Alayna's Big Week

We flew to NY last week, which was, in itself, a big event. Mommy flying solo with 2 children. But, Alayna, at least, flew with the grace and ease of a seasoned traveler. She did, however, have to spend part of the flight out in the arms of a nice lady so mommy could attend to big sister, Kira. Most of our flights, she slept or nursed happily. Most of the passengers and flight crew commented on her fat cheeks, happy disposition, and how well she did adjusting to the flight. In the airports, she spent her time in the mai tei, happily observing the scene.
Her baptism was Sunday, and Grammy sure did look proud carrying her around...and Alayna soaked up all the attention and giggled at the congregation as they watched her.
As if that wasn't enough excitement, she also learned to roll over from her back to her tummy, started to cut her first tooth, and met her Great Grandma and Grandpa Moore (More, Grandpa Moore as Kira called him!).
Of course, now that we are home, she is having trouble adjusting to mommy being at work several days in a row. But, I finally have a day off tomorrow, one more day of work, and then several days off in a row. I think we will transition just fine!

The big belly laugh

It's finally here! The big belly baby laugh! I was bouncing her around on my knee yesterday watching her smile when it escaped. It was loud, it was giggly...it surprised her. She stopped for a second and looked very serious. Then she laughed again...and again...and then she was just cracking herself up! It was so funny that I had a big belly laugh, too!

Paci

Finally! After 3 months of trying, Alayna is taking the paci! No more being constantly attached at the breast...no more fighting off sleep...just sweet, sweet sucking on the paci. So, after all that trying, we have a small collection of baby size pacis. One in every brand I could find. Funny that she did not like the one her sister STILL won't give up. She prefers the NUK ortho paci...in silicone only. Sister Kira would not take anything but latex Mam as a baby (now I think she'd take whatever she could get!). Despite the fact that the new paci leaves funny little "parenthesis" on her fat little cheeks, it sure does make for some easier moments!
